| "Back Home to the TV" |
A nice quiet week - much easier than my vacation! Part of the reason for it being so quiet is that it's taking me for ever to get over jet-lag. So I've been coming home from work early each day and just resting, and watching television.
Work is kind of ridiculous right now. Take this morning, for example. I didn't even get to work until 10.00, since I went for a long run this morning (the first in a couple of weeks - it felt great). I got to my desk, and did what I always do; check my email: about twenty new ones. Only two of them were of interest to me, and they were both personal. And that's it - that's my official duty done for the day!
Oh, there are projects out there, which I will be asked to get involved in before long. But everybody knows I have jury duty on Monday, so it's pointless me getting into a project until I know if I'll have to take part in a jury (I hope not!)
In the mean time, I passed some time looking up my current favorite daily Internet sites. Of course, there's always the Telegraph football page, to see what's happening back home with my favorite sport. And while in England, I got into the habit of reading the Guardian every day, so now I make do with the electronic version, particularly the political sketch by Simon Hoggart, which is always hilarious.
The other two sites I've been checking out are those for the British version of the TV show "Big Brother", and now the American version too. I must admit to getting hooked on the British version during my last couple of weeks in England. And I've been watching the American version since getting back. It's interesting to see the differences between the two shows: the American version seems much smoother - the characters have fewer rough edges, and there's neither nudity nor profanities, which is frankly absurd. What's the point of having a peeping-tom show about real life if you edit out the bits of real life that are deemed unsuitable for the general public! However, my main reason for watching the American version is that there's an adorable cutie in the show named Josh :)
Took this photo this morning on the way to work. I see this guy frequently during my walk to work and I have no idea what he means by his very strange sign!
