| "Seriously Fatigued" |
I continue to be completely bummed out about my energy level. I was a little jokey about it in my last journal entry, but it's a serious problem. Here I am, in the prime of my life, full of high spirits (for the last week, at least :), and yet it's all I could do last night to lie down on the sofa and watch a video. I couldn't even go to the gym, I felt so drained.
I have had a pleasant week, though, despite that. On Wednesday, I went to the Symphony with Jaxon, and heard a mixed bag of modern pieces. The highlight for me was Sibelius' Seventh Symphony, which is an evocative, single-movement work of shifting strings and Nordic climaxes. The only piece I positively disliked was a horrendous twelve-tone piece by Stravinsky, a composer I like very much, except for his extremely experimental stuff.
On Thursday, I had lunch with Hunter at Perrys. He made the dumb mistake of showing me his new driver's license. I say "dumb", because Hunter is someone who's extraordinarily cagey about his real age. In fact, he'd only just got through telling me that it would be his 46th birthday on Monday. I noticed that when he showed me his driver's license, he kept one thumb firmly parked in the top right corner. Being simply curious, I tried to take the card from him, and encountered an extremely firm grip. A truly titanic struggle ensued, in which we received a number of stares from other diners; but before long I had the card in my hands, where I discovered his horrible secret - his true age! Don't worry, Hunter, your secret is safe with me! Do you remember Armistice Day, though?
